We are looking for strategic, intelligent Public Relations and Advocacy Interns who are passionate about social change and want to influence the world.A typical day at TASC may include writing op-eds for placement in national flagship publications to rehabilitate a thought leader’s reputation, developing the media outreach strategy to build brand equity for a global nonprofit or working closely with a top-tier enterprise reporter as they build out a longform feature profile of your client. We are at the juncture of communications, non-profit advocacy and progressive politics and are seeking interns who want to learn and grow with our firm.Intern DutiesDaily sweep for client- and industry-related news itemsMedia researchCreation and development of media target listsTracking of client hitsProofreading of internal and external documentsCollaboration in drafting and developing press releases and media advisoriesAssisting team to manage red carpets (when applicable)Basic administrative duties, including answering phones, monitoring email, etc.Internship ObjectivesIncrease knowledge of publicist/press relationshipsDevelop strong media research skillsUnderstand how to monitor clients in the pressUnderstand how to identify opportunities for clients in the pressUnderstand how to assess impact of a media hitIncrease level of understanding of press releases and media advisoriesDevelop basic email and phone pitching skillsIncrease knowledge of celebrity and event managementTASC operates out of a small, open office. Interns are expected to communicate frequently with members of the TASC team. Interns will also have frequent touchpoint meetings with the Intern Supervisor to assess how well expectations and goals are being met for all parties.Qualifications:Completed at least 32 creditsMaintains a 3.5 GPA or aboveCommunications/Journalism/Public Relations/Social Justice/Political Science Major/Minor preferableProficiency in Microsoft Office systemsSocial media expertise a plusKnowledge/experience in website building with WordPress a plusNote: Please include a cover letter when submitting your application.
