ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT PUPIL PERSONNEL SERVICES
Requirements
- A minimum of five years of administrative experience in special education.
- Proven experience in the areas of social work, psychology, speech and language, English as a New Language, guidance and/or related areas.
- Proven experience developing and implementing strategic plans for PPS.
- Possess leadership attributes as stated in the Portrait of a Hastings Learner: Bold, Collaborative, Empathetic, Empowered, Inquisitive and Inventive.
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal and State legal requirements governing special education, ENL, and homelessness.
- Experience with federal grants, State grants, and reporting requirements.
- Comprehensive knowledge of instructional best practices and structures that support student learning, especially as they apply to special education and ENL curriculum, programs, practices, and related services.
- Experience using data and evidence to establish clear and measurable goals to monitor students’ progress and evaluate instructional programs.
- Expertise in the hiring, supervision, and evaluation of faculty and staff to promote professional growth and ensure high standards of professional accountability in diverse educational settings.
- Expertise as an instructional leader, capable of serving as a lead professional developer for a diverse and talented student services faculty.
- Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and community agencies, including students, parents, faculty and administration, CPSE agencies, BOCES administrators, private and residential schools, the courts, and other school districts in a shared commitment to the goals of the district and improving services to students.
- Proven experience developing and managing district-wide budgets under PPS.
- Comprehensive experience chairing CSE, CPSE, and 504 meetings.
- Extensive experience developing IEP and 504 plans.
- Proven experience in impartial hearings and the mediation/resolution process as required.
- Experience with implementing the Culturally Responsive Sustaining and Educational Framework (NYSED).
- Bilingual language skills (Spanish or other) a plus.
- New York State Administrative Certification: SDL or SDA required.
Twelve-month Tenure Track position, reporting to the Superintendent of Schools. Position start date: August 1, 2025. Salary range: $180,000-$210,000.
