<strong>Job Overview<br><br></strong>We are seeking a motivated and seasoned Senior Merchandise Accountant to join our team for a 4-6 month hybrid (primarily remote) engagement, commencing immediately. This role is pivotal in supporting our essential accounting functions, which encompass period-end closure, reporting, analysis, audit collaboration, and the forecasting of fixed costs. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in managing event settlements while providing precise cost tracking for merchandise initiatives.<br><br><strong>Key Responsibilities<br><br></strong><ul><li>Facilitate the timely completion of monthly closing activities for Inventory and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS).</li><li>Collaborate closely with the Merchandise and Events teams to guarantee precise accounting for COGS and inventory related to all projects.</li><li>Oversee settlements and meticulously monitor costs in coordination with external merchandise vendors.</li><li>Investigate and resolve discrepancies between the company's ERP system and data from third-party merchandise partners.</li><li>Execute month-end closing responsibilities, including the preparation of journal entries in accordance with GAAP and SOX standards.</li><li>Assist with special projects, including the rollout of new initiatives.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Required Skills<br><br></strong><ul><li>Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a Senior Accountant capacity.</li><li>Robust understanding of COGS and its implications on profitability.</li><li>Proven track record in account reconciliation, with the ability to identify and rectify discrepancies.</li><li>Solid experience in balance sheet reconciliation to uphold accurate financial records.</li><li>Comprehensive familiarity with bank reconciliations to ensure consistency between financial transactions and bank statements.</li><li>Proficient in managing the General Ledger, including posting, overseeing, and reconciling entries.</li><li>Adept at preparing and recording journal entries accurately.</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial data management and analysis.</li><li>Familiarity with month-end close procedures for ensuring prompt and precise financial reporting.</li><li>Knowledge of Oracle or comparable financial software for efficient accounting operations.</li><li>Experience in inventory accounting, specifically in tracking and valuing inventory.</li><li>Competency in Google Docs for collaborative document creation and sharing.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li>A minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience.</li><li>Strong experience in a Senior Accountant role, particularly within merchandise accounting and financial reporting.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Career Growth Opportunities<br><br></strong>This position opens avenues for engaging in special projects and new initiatives, presenting valuable learning opportunities and potential career advancement.<br><br><strong>Company Culture And Values<br><br></strong>Our organization promotes a dynamic, collaborative work environment where detail-oriented professionals can excel.
